What if...?
Ever watched “Lost” and wondered what you would do when stranded without the creature comforts that we all take for granted?
The Solent and New Forest are the ultimate training ground for a complete range of interactive “how to” events, that are educational, entertaining, and most definitely have a purpose!
Backwoods
We begin by outlining the core skills of fire, food, shelter and water. You will learn to light fire with different techniques, including the bow drill, and using natural tinders; build and sleep in your own shelter, discuss wilderness safety and hygiene, apply natural navigational skills and learn how to source and purify water; walk through woodland identifying trees and plants that have food, medicinal and other uses. Other topics covered include backwoods cookery, trapping and snaring, improvised weapons, river crossings, distress signals and much more.
Sea Survival
It is a well-proven fact that in the event of an emergency at sea, people who have received training are more likely to survive. This event outlines the basic knowledge and practical experience of personal survival principles and techniques. You will learn about preparation for survival, lifejackets, search & rescue. You will also join a practical session in a swimming pool with a life raft. This course is a must for anyone who goes on, over or near the sea.
Ditching simulator
For the bravest adventurers we offer the ultimate challenge. One of the most advanced underwater escape training simulators available in the world today that
demonstrates real-time aircraft immersion and inversion, and features exit-specific technology that replicates more than a dozen types of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft.
Navy - Damage Control Simulator
This high-tech unit simulates flooding damage to a ship and provides a set of realistic ship compartments including a Diesel Generator space, messdeck (living space), various storerooms, pump rooms and passageways. Viewing areas are incorporated for visitors and instructors to undertake assessment and ensure safety throughout the tasks. Compartments are outfitted with realistic markings and fixtures so much so that you would actually believe you were on a ship. This damage requires the trainees to take action from initial 'body on the line' leak stopping up to advanced shoring techniques and damage repair. Exercise smoke can be pumped into any compartment, casualty dummies are used and sound effects offer the final touch of realism.
Firefighting
Everyone fantasises about Firemen one way or another, whether they want to be one – or just be with one. Now it’s your turn! We offer a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Damage Control School where fire fighting training is provided in a 3 floored propane gas-fuelled simulator that gives the instructors, via a control room, complete control of the fire and environmental conditions faced by the firefighters. Instruction covers a range of fire fighting topics including equipment, personal protection, breathing apparatus, fire containment and duty watch responsibilities.
